Potter's Wheel

We offer 1 ½ hour taster sessions on the potter's wheel during the school holidays. At this session you are given a demonstration on the wheel followed by your chance to make two or three small pots. The pots made on the wheel are then dried and fired, this takes around 4 weeks. Once ready you can choose to come back to paint the pots you made for £5 per pot using our underglaze paints.

Pottery with NK Ceramics

In this wheel throwing workshop in Edinburgh, you'll spend 1.5 hours getting hands-on with clay in a relaxed, private pottery taster session designed for beginners. You'll learn useful pottery techniques and master shaping clay on the wheel.No experience is needed to join. With a maximum of four people, you’ll have plenty of guidance and time to experiment, create, and get messy!What to expect:

Learn the basics of working with clay and get comfortable with the materials.
You’ll be guided through simple pottery techniques, step by step.
Make your own ceramic pieces to take away after they’ve been fired.
Plenty of opportunity to experiment, ask questions, and enjoy the creative process.

You’ll leave with new wheel throwing skills, something you’ve made yourself from scratch, and, hopefully, a big smile!

Nicole is a ceramicist and teacher based at Potter Around. Whether you’re completely new to clay or already have some experience, come along, get your hands muddy and have some fun! Nicole has been making pottery for around eight years and teaching at our studio for about five. She's passionate about sharing her love of ceramics with others. Her classes are relaxed, welcoming and hands-on, a chance to slow down, get creative and make something you can be proud of.
