Wool

We are very lucky that Irene, who helps with all kinds of crafts in the studio, is a very keen and wonderful knitter. She previously knitted for one of Scotland’s top wool designers and now runs our knitting classes for both adults and children. Whenever she is in the studio she is happy to advise on wool and help sort out those  knotty knitting problems. We are gradually building up our wool collection and have ICE yarns and Grundl yarns in stock, as well as knitting needles and specialty yarns to make scarves and sock wool (and of course Irene on hand to show you how to turn that heel). We would love to grow our wool section and so if there is something you would like to see please let us know and we will gladly see if we can source it for you.

Knitting

Tuesday nights from 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Wednesday mornings 10.30-noon

Kids classes run on Wednesdays in the school holidays or Irene can get you started on a Saturday morning.

The Knitting Club is a very friendly, supportive and sociable  group. All levels including beginners are welcome. Irene is on hand to help with all your knotty problems and to encourage you to have a go. Learn how to knit beautiful scarves using specialty yarns or how to knit socks using our special sock wool. Come in and chat, have a cuppa and swap patterns. £4.50 includes coffee and tea. And if you’re lucky it will be one of the sssions when Irene brings some of her baking.

We also now sell hats and scarves knitted by Irene. These are available in a variety of colours.We will also knit to commission for you. Just let us know what you want and we’ll work out a price.

Yarnbombing

 

We are also home to the Yarnbombers of Kirknewton. If you would like to join in and find out more about urban knitting and what goes on or how to get involved, come up on a Tuesday evening. We promise to keep the identity of the yarnbombers safe. 

Felting

Renowned felter Ann Ross leads our felting workshops. We have courses in making bags, brooches and beads and on cobweb scarves.
