Potter’s Wheel

The Potter’s Wheel and Clay side of our business continues to grow and it has been exceptionally busy since the launch of The Great Pottery Throwdown tv series.  At Potter Around we can offer a variety of workshops, parties, corporate events and pottery experiences – be it handbuilding in clay, a potter’s wheel taster session or a series of workshops.

Throw pottery West LothianWe have a dedicated studio for the pottery where there are four wheels and room to learn  handbuilding techniques, such as coiling and slabbing. With lots of tools, stamps and glaze available, you will be able to create and decorate a unique piece from clay.

Just call us to book a suitable time for a session but we dedicate Wednesday mornings and evenings as well as Sunday afternoons to pottery offering other sessions when we can. As they are very popular it is best to book in advance.

Taster sessions are a great way to begin with pottery but you are sure to be hooked and if so a series of classes is a great way to move ahead where you will learn how to ‘turn’ and finish your lovingly created piece, before glazing and firing.

Children’s Pottery Courses and Parties

Projects for children (and adults for that matter) include piggy banks, name plates, imprinted leaf bowls, animals, cupcakes and more. After each class we will let your pieces dry and will then fire them. You can then return to the studio at any time to decorate and glaze your piece at an extra cost of £5 per person.

Children’s parties include having a go on a potter’s wheel and handbuilding a piece. We will fire all their work and either dip it in a glaze of your choice, or leave it unglazed. The children can then come back and decorate it themselves later. Call to book a party or workshop or to find out more.
