Art
At Potter Around we run art classes and sell art by local artists. We always have canvases and acrylic paints in the studio if you want to drop in and paint. The countryside and views around the studio provides great inspiration for landscape artists. Children of all ages are welcome to drop in at any time and paint, make collages or indulge in messy art and crafts.
Oil Painting Workshops

You can join our oil painting workshops at any time. They run on Thursday mornings from 10.30 -12.30 and on Monday evenings from 5-6.30pm for children and 7pm-9pm for adults, under the guidance of Kirsty McDiarmid. The course is suitable for beginners. Over the weeks you will work on your paintings, gradually building it up to create a professional work of art.
Kirsty is a local artist who has been painting seriously for several years, particularly in oils. She loves the flexibility and richness of the medium of oils and strives to achieve depth and realism in her work. Before returning to West Lothian, she spent 5 years living in Ireland where she was a member of the South Tipperary Art Centre and studied oil painting technique. Going on to assist in the running of the clases, Kirsty also successfully exhibited and sold her work. She is now a member of the Livingston Art Association and is eager to continue sharing her knowledge of oil painting. The classes are sure to be instructive and enjoyable.
Artists on Display in the Studio
We currently have pieces on sale in the studio by Kirsty as well as Alfred Marshall.
Alfred is a retired carpet designer who works span all mediums. He is also Karen’s dad.
As the oil painting classes are now into their second year, those who have been coming all that time are now feeling confident enough to display their work too and some are for sale. All the artists will take commissions so just give us a call to arrange this.
